About Volcano Hi-Power

Founded circa 1980 by legendary producer Henry 'Junjo' Lawes (1960-1999). Volcano Hi-Power dominated Jamaica's music scene in the early 1980s, featuring DJs Yellowman, Josey Wales, Charlie Chaplin, and Fathead. The sound used the Roots Radics as their regular studio band and launched the careers of Barrington Levy and many dancehall pioneers. Junjo was tragically shot dead in a drive-by shooting in Harlesden, London on June 14, 1999.
