About King Jammy's

King Jammy's Super Power is the oldest sound system on record still active, established in 1962 by Lloyd 'King Jammy' James in Waterhouse, Kingston. In 1985, Jammy changed music history with 'Under Mi Sleng Teng' by Wayne Smith - the first fully digital reggae riddim, created using a Casio MT-40 keyboard. The track debuted at a legendary clash against Black Scorpio at Waltham Park Road on February 23, 1985, where Jammy won by acclamation as the crowd demanded the song be played repeatedly. The Sleng Teng riddim has been versioned nearly 500 times. King Jammy's influence shaped hip-hop, reggaeton, jungle, dubstep, and EDM. He continues producing and performing internationally.
