About Tom the Great Sebastian
Founded in 1950 by Tom Wong (1924-1966), a half Chinese-Jamaican, half Afro-Jamaican entrepreneur. Named after a trapeze performer in Barnum and Bailey's circus. Widely regarded as the first real dancehall sound system and the leading sound of its day. Featured Count Matchuki (widely credited as the first deejay), Duke Vin, and Prince Buster. The sound was later sold to Haidan 'Jimmy Metro' James in 1976, becoming Metromedia.
