About Stone Love

Founded in 1972 by Winston 'Wee Pow' Powell, a former jukebox repairman from Manchester, Jamaica. Stone Love Movement grew from a house party 'set' to become Jamaica's most popular sound system, known for superior sound quality maintained by long-time engineer Winston Samuels. In the late 1980s, Stone Love pioneered 'juggling' - seamlessly mixing specials with two turntables. Their legendary 'Weddy Weddy Wednesdays' street dance started in 2003 at their Burlington Avenue headquarters, becoming a pilgrimage site for dancehall lovers worldwide and launching the career of Mavado. Powell received the Order of Distinction in 2014, and Stone Love celebrated 50 years in 2022.
