Renaissance Disco was founded in Kingston in 1989 by CEO/selector Delano Thomas, manager Avery Leach, and Devon Simms. DJ Delano previously selected for Lejeaux Disco before forming Renaissance. Known as the ultimate crowd-pleaser, Renaissance blends old and new dancehall with hip hop, featuring original remixes and impressive dubplates. A breakthrough came when they produced Sean Paul's 'We Be Burning,' which reached #6 on Billboard. DJ Delano became the first Jamaican DJ whose sound appeared on BET, Soul Train, and MTV. The sound's signature events include the Renaissance Anniversary (Kingston and Miami) and the legendary Christmas Eve 'All White' party.
