About Metro Media
Metro Media was founded in 1971 by Lou Gooden at the Baby Grand Club in Cross Roads, Kingston. When Gooden emigrated in 1976, Jimmy "Daddy" Metro (Haldane James) took over the sound. Starting with one Fisher 150 watt amplifier and four Goodman speakers, Jimmy built Metro Media into a clash powerhouse. He discovered Peter Metro in 1981 and later Tanto Metro, transforming the sound into a dancehall force. The sound's reputation soared after their 1984 UK tour. Metro Media is credited with launching Bounty Killer's career after playing his dubplate at a session in the 1990s.
