About Coxsone Sound

Sir Coxsone Outernational was founded in 1968 in Clapham by Lloyd 'Sir Lloyd Coxsone' Blackford and Festus, childhood friends from St. Thomas, Jamaica. One of the UK's first sound systems to play reggae in the West End, Coxsone was the first sound to play in Europe and introduced Roots and Culture to the UK. In 1975, they kickstarted the UK lovers rock phenomenon with 'Caught You In A Lie' featuring 14-year-old Louisa Mark. Bob Marley would often stop by when in London, and wrote 'Kinky Reggae' about a night out at Colombo's club. The sound celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2018.
